Everyday Birthdays
We count the years and don’t notice the days
As tomorrows quickly switch into yesterdays
Yesterdays which disappear into history
Some into forgetfulness, some into a memory
But tomorrows are what we hold on to
Filling up every dawn with hope for a breakthrough
Every chapter is only done
By turning pages one by one
Stars wait for dusk and shine
And stay bright all night
New flower bud after others wither
Seedling survive storms of bad weather
We give in to sleep, fight to stay awake
Reborn with dawn, to fight another day
Let this candle light on vanilla cream
Signal the fire of our chosen dream
Our day is not one
Our day is each and everyone
Our days are Everyday birthdays
