Every Time
My gaze is swayed,
My thoughts scattered.
An unrecognisable tremor.
Is that sweat I feel?
My grip tightens.
The cold steel kisses my skin.
I forget to breath, forget to blink.
Mouth runs dry.
No sound registers.
No sound but that of my heart.
Transfixed by the blue.
Like dazzling sea kissed by sun.
I’m drowning, yet I stand.
Held only by the glue.
The glue of longing.
Fire grazes my lips.
Months, days, hours and seconds.
All have lapsed.
All, but this sequence,
Each time my eyes meet yours.
