Everlasting Memories

If you want to bring me flowers, bring them to me now,
Don’t wait till I’m not there, for I wouldn’t be able to enjoy them anyhow.

If you want to say you love me, please do it for me now,
For that way I can return the favor, give it back somehow.

Not trying to be tacky, don’t want to sound rude,
But it’s better to be truthful though the words may sound a little crude.

Show me your affection while I walk this world with you,
So I can return it, that’s all I want to do.

Cause when my time is over and I have gone away,
I won’t be there to listen to what you have to say.

I want to be able to smell the flowers and look upon their beauty too,
Is that to much to ask, is that to much to do?

I want to see your expression as you give these things to me,
For that is what makes memories, and memories are the greatest of gifts, someday I hope
you see.

For when we leave, we leave all gifts behind,
Except the ones called memories which are etched forever in our minds.
