Ever Nothing Afternoon

by Laura

We woke up today and met the afternoon sunrise
Horizons ahead buried underneath our abandoned disguises
Lying through false teeth and loving with stolen hearts
Marching on ahead without the warm grace of beautiful art

It's a wonderful start to the afternoon in a sun that rises as we choose
In these eyes of past abuse, we're the vices that we use
It's a brand new day to give way to the ever-nothing afternoon
We use our minds to fill the room; praying it won't be over soon

Drifting away with this feeling that we could never describe
You'll never see it just like we do; we are the last ones of a tribe
The old souls; the listless, hopeless romantic souls
The makers of forgotten ways to show lasting love the demons never stole
