Evaporate

It seems like everyday
I lose a little more.
It’s never very much
So, easy to ignore.
I don’t know where it goes;
Just out into the air.
And those around me laugh
‘Cause I’ve so much to spare.

Many times I wonder
If it was really here,
That little bit I lost
Out to the atmosphere,
For when I stop to think
It seems so very strange,
I look in the mirror
And I can see no change.

Don’t tell me I am wrong,
All you who laugh and scoff.
I know there once was more!
My inventory’s off!
I’m somewhere in the red
But don’t know what I miss.
And I can’t even check
For I have made no list.

That little piece of me
Just gone without a trace…
Another little truth
That I don’t want to face.
The cost of living life?
The price we all must pay?
As bit by bit we fade:
Evaporate away…
