Eulogy For Regrowth
Whence the tears descend from the heavens
to the thirsting earth which forever more
feeds the timeless paths of the rivers
to the deepest, darkest ocean floor;
there the fragments of these mortal coils
may nurture and cradle life once again,
returned to the womb of the parent sea
where ashes and dust repose and remain.
Let the tumult of living be ended,
closing eyes unto innocent sleep;
drawing blankets of water upon them,
casting nets of eternity into the deep;
for if ashes must only be ashes
and dust only dust whether callow or old,
though faded and tarnished these memories still
keep the glister of silver and gold...
