Ethereal

There you stood in front of me looking so ethereal to me, are you real, or something I created in my mind? A beautiful fantasy
And then you spoke and the most beautiful voice that I had ever heard pierced my heart, I didn’t know how I was so deserving of this gift, but I was going to play my part
I was going to be all that you ever needed and wanted in your life, anything to appease you and ensure that you would always be mine
And when I felt your angelic touch, I couldn’t believe my surprise, it’s like I was being lifted to another world when I looked into your eyes

How could an angel be here dancing with me? Holding me in his arms and conveying his love for me
How could I feel his heartbeat in time with mine? All I know is that the way he made me feel was something so divine
I never in my life had been touched in a way so emotionally, that all that I wanted was right there staring back at me
But in truth you were no angel, you were a devil in disguise, you masked your horns with your halo that you uncovered when you laid down my demise

You took away my airy feeling and there I fell, where you had shown me heaven just moments ago you then introduced me to hell
You showed me the dark side where your true soul lives within, and you asked me to join you there that you were tired of playing pretend
Although I did love you and I wanted to comply, I just couldn’t let you lead me down the path that would emotionally take away my life
You already got the best of me I gave my all to you, what more do you want from me? My fantasy is over now and we’re through.

Wauw. It really touched me. First I thought it was going to be a love poem until the end. It really surprising me by turning from light to dark, but that was a brilliant move. I also liked the first part, but at the end you really grabbed me by the throat and I was completely into it. Although I mostly like shorter poems (because english isn't my first language), I really understood everything and it definitely touched me. Keep writing, because I know I am not the only one who would like your poems a lot.
