Essence of Spring
Birds winging.
Harleys singing.
Rain is falling.
Barbeques are calling.
Lawn mowers.
Leaf blowers.
And the presence
of new flowers.
Squirrels running around.
Convertible tops down.
Trees are in bloom.
No more winters’ gloom.
Snow is gone.
Replaced by a green lawn.
Blossoms in the air.
Bonfires a flare.
Open windows to let it all in.
Thunderin’ and lightenin’.
Digging holes all around
to put new flowers in the ground.
The sounds outside of neighbors talking.
The smiling faces of people walking.
Children at play in the bright sunshine.
Being able to stay outside ‘til nine.
Wind chimes blowing in the breeze.
The honking of some northbound geese.
These things are all here for a reason.
To make us aware of a brand new season.
