Escape Into the Pages

After the bustle of a busy day
I curl up with a book to read.
Engrossed in it, I drift away
and of this world, I take no heed.

Tension eases from my being.
Peace and quiet, growing by stages.
Thoughts of work, my mind now fleeing
as I escape into the pages.

The quiet envelops me like a hug,
away now from the noisy day.
Curled up here with book and mug
as all my stresses drift away.

Reading is such a peaceful way to spend an evening and books can take us to magical places. Usually I drift off to sleep after a chapter or two, just as the stress drifts away too. Very nice, Francine! Love, Carolyn
