Escape

As I lay my head down upon my pillow,
my dreary eyes slowly open and close.
I pull my blanket up around my neck
baracading myself in for the night.
I say my prayers quietly under my breath,
giving thanks and asking for guidance.
With the moon shining bright onto the foot of my bed
and the pitter patter of the rain on my window,
I close my eyes dreading the buzz of the alarm in the morning.
Then, I drift off to sleep, entering the world of dreams
and escaping the world for just a night.
