Ere the Sun Peeps

The night sky is darkest before dawn Ere the sun peeps over the horizon, Before I have stretched or had a yawn The night sky is darkest before dawn. While the nightshades are still drawn, And the world is waiting for the risin’ The night sky is darkest before dawn, Ere the sun peeps over the horizon.

This is an excellent Triolet, Mil, and my favorite time of day.

I can attest to the truth of it, Milt. I’m up before dawn nearly every day. The beauty of a sunrise is more lovely than a sunset. Set your alarm.

I have heard this my whole life, Jenna. Is it really true that the night is darkest right before the dawn? I'm rarely up that early to observe.
