Equality

Life isn’t fair
Legions lament,
Noting there’s no equal share.

Some have the wealth of dreams.
Some have little to spare,
Fated to fail it seems.

But if life were fair
What makes us unique
Would grant us no reason to care.

We’d be cookie cutter clones
Stamped out in a row.
You could be me, and I you.
This life is fairer than we want to know.

It may well be, Catherine, that I've overstated my case. I suppose I was applying some cognitive dissonance. In any event, your comment is perceptive and well stated; please know that I appreciate it.

Hello Paul... I liked the structure of your poem and the message flows out to let us know that we don't need to be a clone. Thank you Paul - Lindsay

I value and appreciate your kind response, Lindsay. The poem could probably flow better, but it seemed to have a mind of its own (you know what I mean). I hope life is treating you and your loved ones wonderfully well in beautiful Australia.

Ah, but life would be less interesting if everyone would have the same lot under the sky! A contemplative write, Paul. I liked it. HUgs! Kim :)

Thank you, Jan. You always "come through" for me, and I appreciate that immensely. I'm trying to write rhyme-free free verse, but my penchant for rhyming gets in the way. In any event, your encouraging words are a treasure.
