Envy

A rose of rich color
Parallels a wood fence
I can’t quite love her
Though it makes sense

Unlike my lawn
My petals are green
Enraged by her song
I chose not to sing

My beauty is fading
Dulled by her shine
I’ll waste away, waiting
To move up in line

Your beauty spills out into your pen. It is not what we see in a mirror but the reflection in our eyes and the inflection of our laughter
