Entwined Shadows

I’ve been waiting for a long time for you To walk with me here I’ve been wandering lonely Looking for you far and near Take you to the valley of flower With the hues of my desire My longing will bloom you’ll see And you’ll know how much I love you my dear You’re mine, Let me open my heart like never before to show It’s a desolate ruin And the loneliness I can’t bear And if you do not trust me Come and look awhile at its shattered shadow I feel you embrace me gently my love Place your luscious lips on mine I roam about in a trance And don’t know even if I pine Are you really with me Or your shadow made by my craving That shapes your love I see in my dream of yearning Be with me, Let me open my heart like never before to show It’s a desolate ruin And the loneliness I can’t bear And if you do not trust me Come and look awhile at its shattered shadow Please hold my hand fondly darling I’ll take you to the azure sea The waves dancing in delight Spread on beach pearls of glee Where beauty charms our sight As in the sky stars glow As the silver moonshine sparkles They will find us in the entwined shadows You’re mine, Let me open my heart like never before to show It’s a desolate ruin And the loneliness I can’t bear And if you do not trust me Come and look awhile at its shattered shadow ______________ Inspired by the lyric of Gordon Lightfoot Song : "Shadows" May 10, 2023 Contest : Gordon Lightfoot Inspiration Sponsored by : Robert James Liguori
