Entitled To Smile
A mother holding her child in her hands, saying “How gorgeous she is!”.
A mother watching her 3 year old son saying his first word, and thus say “How smart he is!”
But neither do they know, that all they are hearing from their beloved mother is gonna be a lie.
School is a place where you learn things, and that’s especially true because you first learn how society is suppose to be there.
She, being called names like pig, elephant, proboscis monkey, ugly etc.
He, being called dumb, stupid, mentally impaired etc.
And no one taught them otherwise, thus they believed it.
Years by years while other’s stripped off their clothes and humiliated them in front of
hundreds, one by one, their dignity, hope, faith was pulled clean.
Hope was nothing but emptiness to them, faith was nothing but darkness to them. And the truth for them was, not entitled to be loved or to be happy.
Day by day, mirrors and windows seemed like lights to vampires to her, and to her, 14 seems like a wrong number and she was taking too much space in this world, and to her not being able to see her toes is a sin all because of what society told her so.
And him, frustrated because God left out a few pieces of his brain, because God left out a few nerves in his body, because God let him have the privilege to sit on a chair for the rest of his life. He, could not comprehend why people don’t like him. For he saw no difference in them and him, only that he has a portable car.
But little did everyone know, that when you were having dreams of unicorns and rainbows, they were having dreams about the God of death, little did you know while you were making friends with xbox and iPads, they were making friends with Nardil and Paxil, and little did you know while you were making love with your boyfriend or girlfriend, they were having sex with knives on their hands over and over again. little did you know, their whites were all dripped in black and red.
And little did you know, they wanted something so simple in life. To be accepted, to be loved, and one more thing that they think they are not entitled, to look up with courage, —— and
smile.
