Enough With the Fireworks

Fireworks are still popping in my neighborhood Long after July 4th; I keep thinking they’ll stop, And hope so soon for the sake of brotherhood! Celebrations are meaningful on their special day Noisy and loud merriment are par for the course But now, I wish the noises would simply go away! You might suggest I am getting old and crotchety And I suppose you wouldn’t be far from the truth Can you imagine a city block blasting ubiquitously?

I think the revelers do not care about being respectful or brotherhood. At a certain time in the early morning they are merely selfish boors.

I've had enough booms for a lifetime!

Welcome to my street, Milt, where it's usually Fourth of July from Memorial Day through half of August... This year, though, it's been much quieter. I read that it's due to the supply chain back-up. A silver lining in the dark cloud there...

I'd say so. And, aren't you lucky!

Wisdom in your words. The days, need to return to quiet. The storm is just too loud lately. Well written, as always. You are an excellent word master... Ann

Thanks, Ann. Let's face it, after a while it just becomes incredibly annoying.

The louder the better seems to be the norm, we have it on Nov the fifth to celebrate Guy Fawkes. Not nice for pets and the elderly, many who lived through the blitz. I think they should be only let off in designated areas so those that want to damage their eardrums can wallow in it. Tom

Good thinking, Tom. I certainly agree.

It's terribly rude and inconsiderate to continue disrupting people's lives with fireworks going off after midnight. I had just gotten to sleep around 1 when it sounded like a war zone. It was 2:30 am! If you're thought of as 'crotchety,' then so am I.

Thanks, Jenna. It's very disconcerting and not much anyone can do about it, I suppose. Rudeness seems to reign these days.

The Chinese believe firecrackers will be set off to scare away evil spirits and to signal the start of a safe and prosperous new year. This 4th was pretty quiet. Aerials are banned here as are most of the fireworks because of fires. People should honor the set time to set them off. Blessings xxoo

The Fourth of July here in Hawaii is not at all that noisy. New Year’s is when all of our fireworks are ablaze. Some begin the day before and on through New Year’s. My husband used to put on a show for the neighbors who brought their chairs to the curb of the street to watch. Cont.

Here, those noises are not at all strange; Just the neighbor sending rounds downrange.

You must live in the country? I live in a sub-division. Sometimes I think some of the neighbors are in competition to see how much noise they can make.
