Enlightenment

Enlightenment There is a path to enlightenment Where wisdom can be found But by this path to enlightenment The soul is earthly bound. The path that leads to Jesus Demands repentance on the way Forgiveness is the gift— That ‘enlightenment’ cannot pay. Enlightenment’s for self glory Not the glory of our King For it’s a works experience That enlightenment does bring. But to walk the path to eternity Where self glory does not exist We must first be repentant To receive God’s ultimate gift. Salvation and enlightenment Are two very different paths One is works for self aggrandizement The other, a gift of grace on our behalf. No works are required For we cannot save ourselves. That’s why Jesus died for us So into works, we needn’t delve. For works is not the answer To eternal enlightenment Rather through the Holy Spirit And true repentance to be rent.
