Notes About The Poem

Endurance

I see a face that has endured
With eyes slightly jaded
A life lived with little reward
An honest portrait painted.

Wrinkles tell their own story
Of lessons learnt and overcome
Hard life lived devoid of glory
Adversity made this man numb.

Yet, this is only what we observe
Beneath exterior, there lies a heart
A love unseen but well preserved
Painful memories and undeserved
