End of the Road

Where do you go
When you hit road’s end?
How do you know
To more energy expend?

Can we be certain
That the road really stopped?
Has that final curtain
In reality dropped?

What then should we thus conclude
As we these questions surmise?
We obviously then should include
The opposite, completely, unexpected surprise.

Maybe the road continues still.
Perhaps we’ve given up the fight.
Just because it seems all uphill
We must, in pursuit, delight.
