End of a Generation
Now, our last patriarch of the Greatest Generation has been taken
a life's long journey, not to be forsaken.
In truth we know that the Lord will call us too...
Invite us to join Him, whatever we do.
We all teased our Uncle in good natured fun
He always smiled; then came back with some witty pun.
He could burst my balloon with nary a try...
Sometimes it was so pointed, I laughed 'til I cried.
We all wish that Uncle Bruno was still with us to give us cheer,
and if we look around, we will see him here.
In the faces of his children; in their characters, so strong hearted...
He is indeed here, as are all our parents' now departed.
The values that they put into each day
are ingrained in us all, in some small way.
They left us with a life's pattern to trace...
Shared in love, through God's holy grace.
The tears we shed for them all, not uncommon to see
are the drops of love that they put into you and me.
Those droplets of love will lead us to heaven's gate on high...
Where they await us, with the rest of our family.
