Encounters

In Mother's day it was not correct
To ask the man for a date
They found a guy they really liked
Yet they had to sit and wait

Times have changed
Women have come into their own
They see a guy that they fancy
Now they do not go home alone

Has it really changed for the better
This making the first move?
Men enjoy the challenge still
I'm sure they would prefer to choose

Of course they can still say no
If they do not like the lady
But being man he can not refuse
He would be considered crazy

So is it really better today?
For women to be able to choose
Somehow this leaves us cold
It has given us a lot to lose

The way it was before
Made for a nicer way to date
The romance was still there
And now it holds no weight

We move too fast towards romance
The rush is there to date
No one has the time to learn
If our choice would be worth the wait

We need to return to the good old days
When men were the ones to choose
When we were the ones they chose on their own
And romance was really pursued

I still like to be the initiator but it is flattering when a woman makes the first move. I must say I am glad not to be in the dating world, it somehow seems a lot more involved these days. Great job mom.
