Emmanuel

A royal King was born, Emmanuel --
Down by His manger men and angels fell;
But he did not within a palace dwell,
Instead he came to save our souls from hell.

The years had passed and death was coming nigh;
He bore His cross while Mary softly cried:
What pain to watch her Son so slowly die,
While wishing Him a tearful last goodbye.

A mother's tears no words could ever tell --
As one by one at Jesus' feet they fell:
What pain to watch her Son so slowly die,
While wishing Him a tearful last goodbye.
