ELYSIAN SCHEME

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
spider spins opalescent thread before dawn's light has fully spread~ loom of dew, a delicate bed. oak stretches in daytime heat, shadows gather ‘neath my feet. midday light pools on forest floor, syrup-slow and thickening pour~ the clock licks seconds, nothing more. wasp hums hymns in golden light, butterflies flutter, winged flight. sky trades blue for burnt honey, shadows puddle like spilled brandy~ crimson spills through cracks, crows scurry. wind sings low then softly sighs day and night greet, compromise. moths mistake lamplight for the moon~ umbra lengthens, sky blackens soon. planets emerge, galactic runes. sky bruises, darkness moves in. stars perforate nighttime's skin the crows assemble, black and loud, counting the day’s lost hours aloud~ their throats full of day’s dying shroud. pond drinks down the midnight moon, spits it back, lunar light strewn. earth wakes then sleeps, cyclical rhyme~ elysian scheme, God’s design.
I LOVE IT!!!! the rhyming, the scenery everything. It's a muses dream to write something like this!! I run up on poems I like at times but there are times we are overwhelmed with the gift God has given. This is my highest honor that I give poets not often. Thanks I'm glad I didn't miss it. John H. wow! Thank you John. What an honor indeed! I agree, the gift of writing is a God-given present....sometimes I, too, am taken aback. I'm grateful for your outstanding and complimentary words.
