Elevation of Life
A sky of wonder captured in a glance,
The world is wider than the room we share;
To find adventure in a sudden chance,
And breathe the sweetness of a mother’s care.
To find the border where the spirit wakes,
The sudden burning of a secret flame;
To feel the passion as the armor breaks,
And carve the letters of a chosen name.
The open highway and the distant shore,
The weight of choices on a road untried;
To knock with courage on a closed door,
And seek the future with a restless pride.
To build a shelter from the passing storm,
The quiet rhythm of a steady hand;
To keep the promises that keep us warm,
And plant our footprints in the shifting sand.
A quiet evening as the shadows grow,
The gentle slowing of a weary pace;
To bless the harvest that we used to sow,
And find completion in a silent space.
