ELEMENTAL

ELEMENTAL It was the start, ancient texts said Fire was the lava, in rivers of red And the planet’s growth was fed When cooled, life raised its head Then from the water to the land Mammals arrived as was planned But little was there to lend a hand Some evolutionists do understand Standing tall and breathing the air Mankind’s destiny was finally there Intelligence grew, becoming aware Yet between tribes, contact was rare Earth became stable, but only just Yet a polished steel sword will rust Each life has an ending, as it must Hence earth to earth, dust to dust

perfect title for this 'earthly' poem about the ascent of man as earth became more stable. The last line was my favorite, honing in on your message. Another great one, Howard.
