Elaine
nothing lit the water
but lights from the factory
that night they found
her daddy drowned
in the reservoir
wind blew frost from the clouds
raining it over the town
and deep currents
brought his body
back to the shoreline
ice had torn down branches
all around the funeral home
she was still there
touching his hands
trying to wake him
