Egotismal

I gave birth to the monster Under my bed It spoke softly of a sweeter time When I was the center of Attention And I craved it more than any drug Intensely lonely fearful vicious Snorted on a silver platter It does not know of love And frankly nor do I For we joined at the hip When it donned my disguise To know that we are one In everlasting war Until I light the fuse And detonate the core I'll never go to sleep I'll never say my prayers The shadow's cast Across my floor Quoth the monster: givememore

This is very dark and haunting. But not as in, no good....just intense and deep and even a bit disturbing. Very raw emotions. You didn't birth the monster...there must have been something in your life that allowed it to be, that hurt you and sent a razor to the heart...or maybe many things. And your interpretation on my other poem, the frames, the mirror.....yes, you got it exactly!

'...the shadow's cast...givememore' ...a marvelous concluding verse. I'm a big fan! Best wishes, Keith
