Ego Issues

Afraid of her shadow
Scared by her voice
Unsure where she'll go
If burdened with choice

She danced to the beat
Of the most fickle drum
Shifting her feet
Biting her tongue

A rebellious disciple
Imagination too grand
A reluctant rival
Avoiding the stand

Haunted by mistakes
Shamed by imperfection
She'll cease to be great
If she shuns her reflection

But she's open ears
To all who speak
Gullible to her peers
Too confused to think

The girl with no voice
The heart that tells all
She was granted a choice
But an ego too small

A small ego is much better than one too large...great rhythm and rhyme in your poem Anna
