You noted 'tabloid news' --- the 'N.Y. Times' and 'Washington Post' these days. Their coverage of Cavanaugh's confirmation, where they just took totally unconfirmed 'rape' stories from women of questionable character as gospel truth and promoted it as such, ended any credibility they may once have had, as far as I'm concerned. I think the formula these days is: A lie repeated often enough becomes undisputed truth: War is Peace; Slavery is Freedom; 2 + 2 = 5 --- from Orwell's '1984.' Thanks for the support, Alexis! :) gw
