Edale
I sat alone in the meadow
The fields so green and pure
A world so soft and tranquil
You must agree I’m sure
The evening sun was setting
Just higher than the trees
Whose leaves were gently blowing
Against the summer night’s breeze
The trickling sound of water
Flowing in the streams
Foxes drinking gingerly
So beautiful it seems
The sheep were bleating softly
And the pheasants flying low
The grazing cows so docile
And the leaping of the doe
The scent of a summer’s evening
And the countryside’s pure smell
An atmosphere so tangible
A place I know so well.
