Eclipsed Hearts
Our love was never heaven,
and the ending, darker still -
my ship flies solo through the stars,
a voyager at will.
Does life bloom solar red on Mars?
I haven’t got a clue -
but all I know, with galaxies between,
is I’m still lost in you.
I comb the endless skies for traces
of stardust in your hair,
yet where our love once thrived,
no beating hearts are there.
Orbiting through the universe,
with nebulae in my eyes,
no shining star to wish upon,
no hand to still my cries.
The years float by like comets,
and I am growing old -
yet you, my constant shadow,
leave my heart forever cold.
A million miles now in my wake,
your love fades like the dawn.
Still, I drift without a planet,
no ground to land upon.
I search through every twilight
for the glimmer of your face,
but love’s light dims and fractures
in the silence of this space.
