Echoes of Emily

What hides behind a closet door--
while life has passed me by--
the truth of love I could not see
when all I said was why.

The closet door, so firmly closed--
and nothing left on show--
the will to leave this misery
if only I knew how.

I flung the door open at last--
at last, I set me free--
the truth revealed within my heart
it’s okay, to be me.
