Echoes of a Forgotten Love

Written: January 05, 2025, for contest Sponsored by: Robert James Liguori Poem Inspired by the Hughes Turner Project, ____________________________________ Stars above, a diamond dust wassail, so bright. Do whisper tales of love within the den at night. A cosmic waltz where spirits intertwine. Casting a cormulent bond, arcane love divine. Your ariose grace in my heart, as a moon, is so near. Now drifts asunder, plagued with ambiguity and fear. Years appear as comets streaking across balmy sky. As treasured memories bedraggle and swiftly die. Your bel esprit, as a canorous melody so sweet, A caterwaul echo, a clangor, I can’t avail but meet. The corpulent sun, a golden teardrop, starts to fall, As crestfallen memories, a deluge, starts to crawl. Though we are parted by a desultory cosmic sea, My seraphic soul still searches, longing to be free. The disconsolate shift is constant, as a climbing tide, But in my heart, your Elysian love will still reside. Empyreal time passes, in a relentless flow, Yet in my mind, your esoteric image starts to glow. Though saying goodbyes feels so fastidious to bear, I find acceptance, easing some gaunt despair. We shared a planet, a world so grand, A love so vast, now lost within the sand. But even stardust keeps within its core, A glimpse of beauty to recall, not ignore. The planets spin, on their gossamer quest, And so shall we, to find our final rest. Our time together, though it came to cease, Remains a legend, bringing sweet release. Though tears may fall as meteor showers brief, My love for you will bestow some sweet relief. And in the heavens, as the ages turn, Our story's embers will forever burn.
