Echoes

Thoughts an unyielding riot
The past comes bounding
When they’re no longer quiet
The silence is astounding

To honor their greed
By hook and by crook
Never really freed
Of the pieces they took

They reap while you sow
Bruised and in tatters
How the tears flow
When it no longer matters

Indentured by their choices
The wounded still walking
How demanding the voices
When you’re no longer talking
