Echo and Narcissus Part 2

Those tranquil waters of the pool,
Now sullied by his zealous kiss.
Could not reveal to natures fool,
   This perfect trap by Nemesis.
   Sustaining life by beggars needs
   "Alas" he weeps; Echo replies,
With his last word "don't leave" he pleads
Despair now etched upon his eyes.
Alone he laid with lovesick gaze,
When blindness came it set him free,
He slipped into the mirrors haze
   To drown bereft of dignity.
    Leaving behind his golden ring
This place forever no one knows
Wherein the early blush of spring.
    A lonely xanthic flower grows.
