Ebb and Flow

They say that life is short, and yet, If you’re like me, I’d place a bet That childhood seems so long ago You can’t recall its ebb and flow. Of course, some days stand out, for sure, When good or bad things we’d endure, But how we lived from day to day? That knowledge somehow’s slipped away. Our current lives rush by so fast, Which seems okay; the die’s been cast, Though younger folk, with years ahead, Will, too, grasp childhood by a thread.

Everyone will do or say something that will remind me of the past. But you are correct, the everyday mundane I do not recall.

O so true, Ilene. ‘Now’ always seems like the preparatory stages for tomorrow. If we could have our ‘older’ knowledge when we’re younger, we’d savour every moment. As always, brilliantly observed and wonderfully written. Terry

The opposite is true for me. It’s like yesterday. I could close my eyes and be right back in it. Even preschool. I know more than I knew then, but have not changed.

It's frightening how time flies by and yes, the odd memory from your past creeps up, where's all the rest I wonder. Tom
