Easter 2020

EASTER 2020 Easter 2020—a most unusual day! We cannot go to church, we’re told to stay away. We’re told a virus looms, pandemic now it seems, And so we’re staying home to watch church on live stream. Conspiracies out there—what will the future be? Will we have church again, and our friends will we see? How do we know just when we may catch this disease? We’re told it hides awhile before the signs one sees. So many places closed, so many unemployed, The more we watch the news, the more we are annoyed. The president’s attacked, his team is just a mess, They want to pass a bill to ease this sad distress. But that’s fought back and forth in Washington, DC, They just stall for more time, for days they disagree. There seems to be a fight for who is in control, And questions have come up within our heart and soul. Is this the final sign of judgment yet to be With many now all gone into eternity? Will the eastern sky soon see our Saviour in the cloud To call us home to HIM to heaven’s happy crowd? I’m sure I do not know, and I have fought distress Because of all the things that’s happened in this mess. It’s hard to have the faith and courage to endure And lean upon the Lord and His promises so sure. So now as I look out at this most unusual time, I trust the Lord to say, “My child you still are Mine. I never was surprised about this dreadful day, I faced a much worse time on a hill far away. My Father turned His back as I bore all your shame, My every drop of blood was shed to cleanse your stain. But then I conquered death when I rose from the grave! And when you placed your faith in Me then you were saved! Yes, you are hindered now from much you used to do, But keep your faith in Me, and not grow sad or blue. You will come forth some day—on earth or home above, I’ve not forsaken YOU, you’re surrounded by My love!”
