Earth Beneath

Sat in the slit The parting bark of a tree With leaves brushing, bashing and flailing Like the brash stroke Of a paddle Benched beside tight in the saddle Him, me and thee For you see The swaying crinkled sea Which surrounds us As thee eyes that be Follow your soul Every step that you take On earth A guide on mankinds turf On earth you speak Of ours we seldom Seek Does thou earth Beneath Belong to us? the way we speak For our past Is not our present does not our future Look quite bleak written by Sarah Linklater
