Early Morning

As I sit this morning Looking at the cloudy sky I can smell some bacon As it begins to fry. Know it’s not my wife For she is still in bed. Must be the neighbors, Getting their kids fed. For they have to go to school, And others to work they go. What the day has in store Neither of them know. I pray that Got will protect Them on this beautiful day As kids and parents Go about their day. The fog is beginning to lift So the drivers can see. Some are blowing their horns, Guess they are blowing at me. The highway is busy Guess I better go inside. Don’t want them to look my way And wreck their pretty ride. Be thankful today for what you have. God will lead you through this day If you will put your trust in Him. And this is what for you I pray.

Long ago when I was a child I would sit in The Church of Our Lady on the highest hill in Guelph. It was very old and grand like a palace I could see God living there. At Christmas time it was the most mystical of places and I knew God lived there at least for me, but then I was only three and my mind was uncluttered. Thank you for prompting that memory for me with your lovely poem.
