Early Awakening

Shadows of the morning slip silently Across the coverlet over my bed Some think the wispy image heavenly I think of covering my sleepy head Will fondly sleep another hour instead Since childhood I'm not a morning person For sleep I’ve never needed rehearsin’ And I love to write into the wee hours Arise early a headache will worsen And my way with phrases easily sours

Your hours used to be my hours; now I feel we have opposite hours. I love to write at 3 a.m. when I am also painting.

I'm lucky to get out of bed by 10:00 in the mornings. My muses really get busy about 11:00 at night.

Oh yeah. There was a time that no matter how I felt, I had to get up and get moving. I'm loving my leisure days and doing what I want to do when I want to do it. Great, eh?
