Dysfunctional Holiday

Gather together all those you
love.
I'll stay at home with faith up
above.
You know in my absence where
I stand.
Healthy, honest, best interest~
nothing less I demand.

Be happy, be merry, you'll
weave more tales today.
Talk bad about others, lie, it's
your way.
But, please, look in the mirror
when it's all said and done.
Is this the right battle for you
to have won.

Recalling fresh young faces of
those oh, so dear.
Being given this burden, your
illness, I fear.
I refuse to cave in, be like you
'cuz you won.
Even though I failed to break
the cycle, in them~it's just
begun.
