Dying Illusion
I was there
I saw it all
I witnessed your
Illusion crawl
It begged; it bade
It licked my heel
It was convincing your hopes
To make me real
My heart cried
When I saw it die
It shattered and fell
I watched it lie
Lying is deceitful
But purrs like a cat
It makes perceptions skewed
Then glues them like that
What now I ask
I’m left with despair
Seeing you again
Means she’s not there
She’s gone
That girl you knew
She’s just another woman
Who can’t measure up to you
Relationships change
So now you can see
I’m not as great
As you’d made me out to be
My masks are gone
I won’t play the game
Scattered on the floor
Your illusion of me is all that remains
