Dumbstruck
One day, I died for heaven’s sake
And let the angels my soul to take,
I had no transgression, no grim sin
A ticket to heaven I was sure to win.
Looking forward to all honey and milk
Gold bed and sheets made of pure silk,
Moon and stars of sparkling crystal fire
Flowers of diamond, ruby and sapphire.
Making nothing but love, day and night
with heavenly maidens to soul’s delight,
To quench my thirst, satiate my appetite
More splendid than we can think or write.
But here I was, absolutely dumbstruck
Cheated, cornered and totally out of luck,
Nothing was in heaven, just utter solitude,
Methinks, I was happier in the multitude.
Pray, give me my life, give me my world
I will take back my disdain for the world,
Oh God, just look! What a fool I’ve been
Much is made of a place no one has seen.
