Dumb Mistakes

You get no breaks from dumb mistakes For when you’re inattentive, You’re bound to miss or else dismiss A step that is preventive. An extra glance may make the chance Of messing up much lower, As will a pause and that’s because When we do things much slower… We’ll likely spot the things we’d not When we are in a hurry And thus prevent the time we’ve spent Consumed by doubt and worry. Of course, in life, there must be strife And if we make a fumble, It doesn’t pay to waste all day In irritating grumble.

I love the way you've worded this poem, Ilene. You've thought it out very thoroughly. I think we do learn some things by our mistakes, but many more remain to haunt us and get compounded. Much wisdom in this poem. / M

to err is human ... but when we keep on making the same mistakes time after time we must be doing something very wrong and not learning our lesson!:-) hugs jan xx

You must be a youngster, Ilene, as the worst part of old age is remembering all the dumb mistakes one made in life. That is especially frustrating because one is too old to give one's self a well-deserved kick in the pants. At least you have the power to turn them into lemonade! Well done! Aloha! Rico

Sage advice --- although isn't irritation embedded in our kishkes?! Nicely done, Ilene. :) gw
