Drunken Life

Looking at the wall staring into the emptyness of life.

Listening to the screaming of the drunken life.

Wishing things would settle to a calm serenity.

Wishing that the lies and drinking would subside.

Not knowing what awaits on the other side of the door.

Just wishing that it would all end.

Now it's quiet and all is asleep till

tomorrow when the drunken life starts again.

Enjoyed reading your excellent poetry today and hope to be back soon to read more Lauren. This time of year we all are so busy and I for one don't have a lot of time right now but I will try. I love reading the poetry of the many talented poets here at the Soup. Hope to be reading your poetry for many more years to come. Thank you for sharing your poetry with us and may you always find the inspiration to continue with your writing endeavors whatever they may be. Love, Carol
