Drum Beat

I heard a drum beat
in my soul,
beckoning me
to your door.

Then I heard
a drum beat
in head my head,
beckoning me
to your bed.

There is no need
to cross that line,
or spend my days
too confined.

But I a lowly traveler too
now looks at life
from a different view

I've changed my thoughts
given up my chance,
to hold you
one more time again.

To brush your hair
or rub your back,
I loved you once
but I can't go back.

To yesteryear
good times and cheer,
I've turned the page
for one more day.

If I hear the beat
straight to your door,
I'll withhold my lust
to explore.

The depth in my heart
beating to then fro,
from the desire to return
but I'll go no more.

I loved you many
times before,
but today I'll
have to shut the door.

Then move my thoughts
in a new direction,
to freshen my spirit
from your direction.
