Drowning

I’m drowning in my own self-pity,
When I feel this low, things just aren’t pretty,
But I don’t want you to feel sorry for me,
I’ve had enough of your sympathy,
I just need some time to straighten things out,
I need to see what my life is about.

I’m drowning in my own excuses,
When I can’t give you reasons, I just feel useless,
But I don’t need your justifications,
I’ve had enough of your explanations,
I just need a moment to sort out this mess,
I need a minute for my thoughts to digress.

I’m drowning in this chaos I’ve made,
When I feel this confusion, I just want to fade,
But I don’t want you to fix my commotion,
I’ve had enough of your ‘make it right’ potion,
I just need a second to float above the rim,
I need the chance to learn how to swim
