Drift Away
The world leaves me with an ominous curiosity,
With all the games that people play.
I get so tired of all the treachery,
I let my mind wander through the Milky Way.
I can’t comprehend so many others.
The others who want to bring me down,
Maybe that’s why I drift so high.
To mingle above the clouds.
My eyes burn at times,
For all they have seen.
At times I have to close them,
So my mind can finally get some peace.
So I’ll drift away yes drift away,
Out into the unknown.
Take my hand if you want to come with me,
To an easy place where we can roam
When our eyes stop burning,
Maybe then we’ll come back home.
Let’s go to a place the cynic’s can’t reach,
To mingle with our thoughts.
To lay back amongst the stars to view the moon,
Where no battles need be fought.
For me there has only been one solution,
To take a step back and slow things down.
I see no need to speed up evolution,
Rushing through life we tend to lose more ground.
So there will be no rat race for me,
I don’t mind my head stuck in the clouds.
For at least my eyes aren’t burning,
I’ll take the scenic route and have a look around.
