Dressed To Impress

The last few leaves fall off the trees as autumn turns to winter Standing naked and exposed so vulnerable without their clothes Enduring months of winter’s cold, they hold a secret I’ve been told Deep inside their skeletal limbs, their heart and soul beats loud and bold They need a rest to display their best, as winter turns to spring And slowly sap is rising as their heart and soul stirs from within Temperatures rise like the sun in the skies; time for the annual Spring Ball But don’t arrive early Jack Frost may be waiting, ready to spoil it all Birdsong tweets the arrival of spring, let the celebrations begin Dressed in their finest and newest attire, hidden from us deep within Trees that looked dead have now come to life, resplendent in every way For spring has now sprung, it is time for some fun, on this beautiful sunny day Spring has arrived and trees have survived, now dressed in their Sunday best No longer naked without any clothes resplendent and ‘dressed to impress’ written 14th November 2018 Contest: MAY 2019 PREMIER 1 UPTO A MAX OF 14 Sponsor: Brian Strand 7th place in this Premier Contest

I love how you have personalized the trees - springing to life, resplendent, and dressed to impress! Wow! Nice! Like this so much, Ann. A difficult poem to write at this time of year here anyway.

Thanks Caren, I was inspired to write this poem today, as so many trees have lost their leaves after a very wet and windy few days. I was on a train to London to see War Horse at the National Theatre, which was so powerful and emotional, I felt totally drained at the end of it. Have you seen it? Sending kindest thoughts Ann x
