Notes About The Poem
Continuation of my dreamtime series, written upon waking from vivid dreaming...

Dreamtime: 29 Fathoms

I landed on the bottom of the deepest lake on earth
My will to live had escaped me
Eyes wide shut, tho my spirit remained
Confused in death, much as in life
Green specs of membrous memories floated under my eyelids
Happy thoughts- skipping flat, smooth, dolomite discs
Into Lake Superior, screaming "watch me, watch me"
To mom & dad vigilant on the picnic bench above me
Nodding their heads
Eliciting roars of approval at 7-8-9 skips
Before losing speed, distance and the will to go on
Letting go, travelling to some distant universe
Where another can hold such wonder in their hands

Where another

      Can hold such wonder

                                In their hands

Wow, I just noticed Nette's comment! Do think it is an accident that the universe lead 2 people to share a same response with you concerning your writing?

Wow, this is loaded with dramatic emotional upheavals on a non-stop basis capable of making a heart race. Your descriptive capabilities make me think you should write a book based on all your 'spills' combined into one. I do believe their is an audience for your talent. All the best .. CayCay

Hi James, I love the content on this piece. I was totally caught up within this write. From beginning to end, I was lost within the realism of the imagery your words did paint. An engaging, powerful piece James. Have a wonderful Sunday. Your friend always....Mike. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas James. Hope you find all you wish in 2019.

Evocative of innocent childhood, laced with regretful maturity (if I'm interpreting it correctly). Great piece, James, very engaging.
